Time flies when you’re having fun. This little saying is common knowledge and it’s so true. I’m a person that nearly never thinks about age, but there are those times when you suddenly wake up and it hits you like a ton of bricks – another decade has gone by pretty fast.
I have to admit, I can’t really remember my 20th birthday. I think I went to the cinema with some friends, had a good pizza and had a small party at home with my family. Sounds boring, but I’ve never been the typical “go-to-a-club-and-get-drunk” person. That hasn’t changed over the last 10 years. I simply don’t get it, why people can spend so much time in such clubs – it’s just filled with smoke and so inhumane loud you have to scream your lungs out when having a conversation.
Another decade & a look back
Let’s start of with the two most important things that happened between 2004 and 2014: It took me some years, but I got my bachelor’s degree in Media Informatics & Visual Computing. I started to study Informatics in Graz, where I lived for two years after moving out at home, then relocated to Vienna, where I visited the University of Technology.
Well, and the other thing: Soon after moving to Vienna I met my lovely JC. <3 We're closing in on our 8th anniversary this year and it was a fun time through and through. We've been to Singapore for a few months - which was also our "living-together test-drive", before she moved in with me. We've spend some nice holidays together - Paris, Milan, London, Nice and most recently Sardinia. And I'm looking forward to many more holidays like those:
Apart from that, I got to know so many other people and I’m happy that there are a lot of friends I really can count on. =)
What’s more, I started my professional life at a the small software company KiwiSecurity GmbH in Vienna. I liked the work, the colleagues and especially that I could gain a lot of experience as a web developer. Just recently I left Kiwi to join JC at Boulesse GmbH. It’s an ecommerce startup with focus on heritage and luxury products. I enjoy every minute at the office, it’s a great atmosphere and doesn’t feel like work at all. <3
However, there are a lot of little stories to tell about the last 10 years. Just think about my brother Klaus. 10 years ago he was as thin as a rake and he looked like me... and now he's freaking Mr. Universe, hahaha. Or my excursions into the world of games journalism by working for consol.AT (which sadly had to close down a few months ago) and my own little online gaming magazine spielquadrat.com. Maybe I’ll write about some of them in the future. ;)
Now, I’m looking forward to my upcoming birthday party. It will be legen – wait for it – dary! :D
